Media Advisory: Agenda Highlights for Regular Council Meeting on September 6, 2018

What: Among the items to be heard at tomorrow's regular meeting of the City Council:
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to authorize the Department of Safety and Permits to immediately remove and store bicycles and motorized novelty vehicles that impede the proper use of the rights-of-ways, and clarify proper parking.
  • The Council will consider a motion directing the Chief Administrative Office to execute the mandatory sexual harassment climate survey to assess the general awareness and knowledge of the City's sexual harassment policies.
  • The Council will consider a resolution expressing its strong commitment to equal pay for equal work and true gender equity, and formally directing the Civil Service Commission to execute a Pay Disparity Study.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to amend the City Code relative to the obstruction and depositing of harmful materials into drainage systems.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to update the membership qualifications for appointments to the Audubon Commission.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to clarify the appropriate advisory scope and other specifications of the Environmental Advisory Committee.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance amending an existing Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the Mayor, the City and the State relative to finalizing capital improvements at the Behrman Soccer Facility.
  • The Council will consider a motion that would create a nine-month IZD prohibiting the issuance of new and renewal temporary and certain new Commercial STR licenses in specified zoning districts.
  • Additionally, the Council will receive special presentations from Access Health Louisiana on their federally funded health centers; the Universoul Circus in celebration of its 25th Year Anniversary and being back in New Orleans; and the Audubon Zoo Animal Ambassador department discussing the economic, community and conservation impact of their work around the city.
  • Please note: The Council will recess for an executive session at approximately 1 p.m. to discuss pending litigation matters.
