Councilmember Nadine Ramsey Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon for Senior Citizens for Fourth Straight Year

November 15, 2017

District "C" Councilmember Nadine Ramsey
NEW ORLEANS - On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, District "C" Councilmember Nadine Ramsey joined the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club to host her fourth annual Thanksgiving luncheon for senior citizens. The event, which took place at the Roy E. Glapion Reception Hall in New Orleans, provided 340 local seniors with great food, live entertainment and fun.

In addition to the free meal, seniors who attended the event received special gift bags with various items and were treated to entertainment by the Young PinStripe Brass Band, DJ Captain Charles and David Darangue as a Zulu Tramp. District "E" Councilmember James Gray, Zulu Grand Marshal Norman Boogie Thomas and Zulu President Naaman C. Stewart were also in attendance.

"My staff and I started getting involved with this event when we realized just how many senior citizens were spending the holidays alone or away from their families," said Councilmember Ramsey. "We look forward to this luncheon every year as a way to give back to our senior community. Bringing so many people together and seeing the joy that it brings makes us realize what the holidays are really about."

This special free luncheon for seniors has been going on more than 20 years, serving up classic Thanksgiving dishes such as turkey and dressing. This year represented Councilmember Ramsey's fourth time hosting the event alongside the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club.
